The Obama’s Meet the Queen
Posted on Wednesday, April 1, 2009 by Kennard | 0 Comments

obamas-queenSo finally, the day we’ve all been waiting for, eh.. kinda. The day our beloved Obama’s meet with Queen Elizabeth. But what we’ve been so desperately longing to see is the choice of wardrobe Michelle chose to clad on such an occasion. So since it was considered an informal visit to the Palace, Michelle chose to wear a black J. Crew sweater and Jason Wu coat paired with a delightful black skirt and pearls. She even stunned us all with her Beyonce-esque ‘Sasha Fierce Bump’.

Ahh… Michelle, how we love thee. What we loved equally as much is the gift the Obama’s gave the Queen upon their visit - an engraved iPod Touch filled with some exclusive show tunes. We love how they gave a woman who is so filthy rich she’s seen everything come and go, a 21st Century piece of Americana. We wonder if Obama threw in some Jay-Z and Kanye West to get the Queen going.

Sidebar: We feel sorry for anyone who has to take a picture next to the Obama’s.

As we all know there are tough challenges ahead for President-Elect Barack Obama with the US currently in a recession and there is only one question on the minds of every American - how will our economy recover?

On Saturday Barack Obama laid out a plan to help bring back jobs to the average American after the government reported that employers cut 533,000 jobs in November. He states that he wants to revive the economy through a job-creating public works plan on a scale unseen since the building program of the interstate highway system in the 1950s.

Man Shot For Wearing Barack Obama T-Shirt

No your eyes are not deceiving you. A man was shot for wearing a Barack Obama T-shirt in support of the presidential candidate. What’s really going on? Better yet why is this even happening? Luxe Republic has the scoop. According to AOL Black Voices, police are searching for the man who shot a Obama supporter three times in broad daylight for wearing an Obama T-shirt.

Now when I first heard about this story on the radio, I had assumed that the shooting happened some where in the US. Wouldn’t you think so? To my surprise the incident occured not in the United States but in London. It just doesn’t get any better than this right? Apparently tempers are flaring and some people (ignorant people shall I add) can’t let others support their candidate of choice. Whatever happened to freedom of speech?

Dube Egwuatu was buying a cell phone card when a British white skinhead with a gun confronted him for wearing an Obama “Believe” t-shirt.  The man begin to yell racial slurs, shouting “I f****** hate n*****s!” and urging Dube to leave the shop. To avoid confrontation Mr. Egwuatu walked away to his car and even zipped up his coat to cover the t-shirt while the man threatened him with a BB gun. The suspect who has not been captured, shot a gas-powered bb pistol three times hitting the victim in the face, hand and shoulder.  Mr. Egwuatu did survive the shooting however not without injuries.  A piece of metal from the bullet had to be removed from his jaw.

Mr. Egwuatu told the Daily Mail (which is a newspaper in London), “The venom in his voice was frightening. He was telling me that he was going to kill me.”

Are you serious? This man did not deserve to be treated like this. It just goes to show you that even though we are living in the year 2008, most people still live like they are back in the “Jim Crow” era. When will we ever get past our hate and ignorance and learn to live together as one?  I know that sounds cheesy but times are changing. Seeing Obama inch closer & closer to maybe being our next president proves how far we have come as a country. It burns me up to know that there are still some people who just can’t get past something as silly as someone’s race! When will we realize that when one falls, we all fall. There’s no separation involved. We are all in this together. Take the financial crisis for example, EVERYONE is feeling the hit. The economy knows no color. I am hoping this is just not the beginning of pure foolishness. Let this be the beginning of the end.

Obama-Biden Ticket & Dems Prepare For Convention

Yesterday Barack Obama announced that Delaware Senator Joe Biden would be his running mate as Vice President of the United States. While many Obama supporters feel he made the right choice, there is a lot of criticism coming from the Hillary supporters as well as democrats in general who believe that Joe Bidden was not the perfect choice for the VP slot. Biden has also been put under the spotlight for making remarks about Obama’s qualifications as a president back in 2007. The media has been eating it up like candy because it sort of makes Biden look like a hypocrite since he did accept the position as VP from Obama. I honestly think that when you’re in a race & you’re running against the other candidates, of course you will say whatever you feel is neccesary about your opponents in order to win. However I am human & still a bit skeptical because when I watched the remarks Biden made about Obama last year on FOX I thought to myself he did a complete 180 and has a different mind set now. All in all it looks as though the two have come together which is what really matters in the end, Biden must believe in Obama & feels he is able to work hard to bring change to America or he simply would have refused the offer. I also think it’s absurd that Hillary supporters are still complaining about Hillary not being on the ticket. Obama has the right to choose whoever he feels is right for the job & if he felt Biden is that person then so be it. We all just need to come together as democrats so that McCain will not win the White House in November. I honestly think the guy is crazy!! I would NOT feel comfortable with him making decisions for this country at all especially when it comes to the war in Iraq or facing any other obstacles with any enemies overseas. He does not seem like the kind of guy who would make good judgements for the better of this country and he is NOT in touch with the middle class working families let alone the poor & he frankly doesn’t care. NO matter what he says we all know the deal. But hey, hillary supporters will sacrifice not only their future but their kids future just because they didn’t get their way. So sad. What do you guys think about all of this? Do you feel that Obama made the right choice? Speak on it.

The Democratic Convention is under way as we speak and will officially kick off tomorrow ending on August 28. Bill Clinton along with his wife Senator Hillary Clinton are both expected to give speeches at the convention. Hillary will be asking her delegates to support Obama as well as asking for her supporters to jump onboard. For any political junkie this has got to be the most exciting & interesting moment in politics history. As we have our first African American male accepting the presidential nomination from the Democrats as well as all the controversy surrounding the split democrat party & their struggle to unite before November. It can’t get any better than this right? Keep it locked to CNN for all of the updates concerning the Convention and don’t forget to tune in for Obama’s acceptance speech on Thursday night.
